Operational permits are reqired for the following:

• Food Trucks
• Special Events
• Hot Work
• Open Burning - Town of Nederland
• Open Burning - Boulder County
• Pyrotechnics
• Tents over 400sf
• Plant Extraction Systems
• Vacation Rentals

Construction permits are required for the following:

• Emergency Vehicle Access (driveway, apparatus access road, etc)
• Emergency Water Supply (Residential or Commercial)
• Commercial Hood Systems
• Gates
• Solar, Roof-mounted/integrated Photovoltaic Systems
• Fire Sprinklers & Alarms
• New Commercial Buildings & Major Commercial Renovations

Currently, NFPD does not accept all construction permit applications directly; permits must also be submitted to the Town of Nederland (in town) or Boulder County (within District boundaries).

Currently adopted code for NFPD is 2024 International Fire Code (IFC), applicants must adhere to ammendments and code editions for the Town and/or County when applying for permits.
